Cavtat
Cavtat is a relaxed seaside town just south of Dubrovnik, set around a pretty harbour on a wooded peninsula. It offers the charm of the coast without the crowds, with a palm-lined waterfront promenade full of cafes and konobas, calm pebble beaches, and easy walking paths around the headland. Highlights include the Račić family mausoleum designed by sculptor Ivan Meštrović, the Vlaho Bukovac house museum dedicated to the famous Croatian painter, and lovely views back towards Dubrovnik. It is a great spot for a calm lunch by the water or an evening stroll. You can reach Cavtat by car in about 25 minutes or by regular passenger boat from Dubrovnik in season.
